steps

1. make sure the phone is charged

2.combine the power  and home key of the phone as shown below

3.hold them together until  it enters recovery mode then use your volume up and down to navigate, scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and press the power key to select as shown below.

4.When the formatting is complete it will show below the you scroll up to reboot device.
